Update from February 2023
At the end of summer 2022, the Taberna del Sur reopened regularly with a new menu.
We therefore assume that normal opening will take place again in 2023.
Presentation of the Taberna del Sur
The "Taberna del Sur" was opened in spring 2016 in the former premises of the "Warsteiner Treff".
It is centrally located in the shopping street, just a few meters from the seafront. The hotels are nearby “Girasol” and “Sentido Playa del Moro”.
The restaurant can be reached without steps. When you enter the restaurant, a large counter covered with colorful tiles immediately catches your eye.
The interior consists of rustic wooden chairs and tables. The green bottles on the ceiling are particularly striking. They were decoratively attached with cords around the ceiling spotlights.
The Spanish character of the interior design is underlined by many black and white pictures with typical Spanish motifs. A large screen hangs in the restaurant.
Part of the exterior restoration is in the pedestrian zone, the other part borders on Carrer Dofi, which is used by cars. The seating consists of comfortable wicker chairs and tables.
Large awnings provide sun protection. In spring and autumn, the entire exterior restoration is protected from the wind by panes of glass.

The "Taberna del Sur" is a mix of Tapas bar and Restaurant.
The restaurant is run by a Spanish couple. The son Miguel is always on site as a waiter.
The outdoor advertising of the house "Wine, ham, Tapas, fried, cheese” refers to some of the local specialties.
Spanish cuisine is served here.
The menu includes a wide variety of tapas.
Out of the oven becomes Oxtail a la Cordobesa, goulash from Iberian pork cheeks and grilled steak from Iberian pork.
Misc Appetizers, egg dishes and salads complete the offer.
Since the restaurant is on the main promenade, it is also worth visiting outside of meal times.
Just enjoy a good draft Spanish beer or a good wine or a sangria and that Watch the hustle and bustle in the pedestrian zone.
This is another way to end the evening.

Our personal opinion:
The "Taberna del Sur" should have visited. It is a nice, typically Spanish Andalusian, but modernly furnished restaurant.
It is with great attention to detail been set up. It also impresses with its good location.
The exterior restoration in the pedestrian zone not only invites you to eat, but also to linger. The staff is nice and very attentive.
Es wird German spoken.
The wine offer is presentable.
Particularly recommendable is the oxtail a la Cordobesa and the grilled steak from the Iberian pork.
Half portions can also be ordered for many dishes.
The prices are reasonable, the value for money is right here.
We sit there more often to have a few tapas in the evening and a good wine or a good chilled Spanish beer to drink.
Also recommended is the Aperol Spritz and the homemade one Sangria.
Definitely one of the many Highlights of Cala Millor.
