historical overview

The place existed long before there were any residential and hotel buildings in the region.

In the center of S'illot is one of the most important archaeological sites on the island in terms of monumental diversity and long historical development.

The oldest settlement areas go back to 1100 BC.

At least until Roman times around 200 BC, the place existed as a city. At that time there lived about 200 inhabitants in the region who were engaged in agriculture.

In addition to keeping pigs and sheep, hunting was also very important.

In the middle of the settlement there was a talaiot (= thick-walled tower), which formed the center of 35 dwellings surrounded by a city wall.

Around 123 BC, the colonization of the Romans led to the decolonization of the settlement.

According to a historical hypothesis that has not been confirmed, the settlers of the time landed on the beaches of Cala Millor and Sa Coma.

In order to be able to establish itself as a holiday resort, the land division of Ca n'Amer de S'illot was approved in 1948. Urbanization began from 1950 and by 1965 the first Hotels built.

The sand is light and fine, the sea is clear and gently sloping.

However, large waves are possible with easterly winds, so the beach is patrolled by lifeguards during high season.

There is a small one at the south end of the beach Port with a ship dock.

The waterfront promenade merges seamlessly into the resort of Sa Coma, which is easily accessible on foot.
