The Restaurant Rafael (formerly Bar Rafael) is located a bit outside of Cala Millor on Avenida Badilla de Llevant.
It was already opened in 1957 by Sen. Rafael Jorda Manresa and is therefore considered the oldest bar in Cala Millor. In 1994, Heinz Hubert Plum, also known as Rafael, and his wife Vivien took over Bar Rafael and turned it into what it is today.

Upon entering the venue, the spacious outdoor seating area with its rustic brick-built counter immediately catches the eye.
You get the feeling of sitting in an overgrown garden beneath towering palm trees, lined with hibiscus and oleander.
A truly unique atmosphere – only the cars passing by on the main road bring you back to reality. There are shady spots here too, even without sun umbrella.
If the Weather weather isn't so great, a spacious heated veranda and a small but charming bar with a fireplace invite you to linger.

The concept of "Bar Rafael" – Spanish specialities, barbecue and good German cuisine
Bar Rafael is a mix of bar and restaurant. Under the former owner Rafael, the focus was on local specialities and dishes from the charcoal grill.
In October 2018, Jochen and Nicole, the former operators of the "Mini Mini Bar", took over Bar Rafael and are now trying to combine the charm of Bar Rafael, the legacy of Heinz Hubert Plum, and the cuisine of the "Mini Mini".
The local specialities have remained on the menu, such as bread with allioli, tapas plates, ham and cheese platters, as well as the famous Pa amb oli.
Added to this is Nicole's excellent German cuisine, with ever-changing dishes such as homemade beef roulade, pork schnitzel, or even cabbage roulade and matjes herring fillet.
Not to be forgotten is the meat jelly from the Spreewald with Spreewald pickles, since Jochen and Nicole originally come from the Berlin area.
The great drink selection has also stayed the same. With your meal, you can enjoy a well-chilled, freshly tapped Spanish beer, or a German Krombacher.
The sangria is still one of the best on Mallorca. The wine selection is also impressive.
Our personal opinion:
We have visited "Bar Rafael" several times. It's located a bit outside the tourist strip and looks somewhat unassuming from the outside, but the walk is definitely worth it.
The flair and atmosphere at the oldest restaurant in Cala Millor are truly unique. If you've been to Cala Millor, you should have been here at least once.
We already know Nicole's great cooking from the Mini Mini, and nothing has changed in that regard.
Still highly commendable. But the Spanish specialities are also nothing to scoff at and are of high quality. The Sangria is second to none. That alone is reason enough to always walk to Bar Rafael.
Another highlight are the potato pancakes with applesauce, served every Sunday during the winter months. You simply have to try them at least once.
In the summer months, the barbecue is expected to take centre stage again, with the well-known grill specialities from the swing grill on offer. High chairs are also available for the little guests.

"In the past", the regularly changing menu used to be published on the website of Restaurant Rafael. For quite some time now, this has no longer been the case. We can report from our own experience: the food is high-quality and delicious. Reservations are recommended!
