What to expect …

A hike to the local mountain of Cala Millor – where to start?

This is a moderately difficult hike, for which you'll definitely need sturdy footwear, a good sense of balance, sufficient stamina, and plenty of water to drink.

Depending on where you start, you'll be on the go for one to two hours .

There are several options for the ascent and descent.

If you want to do as long a hike as possible, start either in the town centre of Cala Millor or directly in Son Servera.

However, if you'd rather head straight up due to warm temperatures and limited holiday time, you can drive to the Bella Vista Tennis Panorama Restaurant and park across the street in a small gravel car park.

Little tip: From here on, stop following any route on Google Maps! The entrance to the trail is somewhat hidden.

You'll find the small dirt path marked with brown stones at the following coordinates: 39.6012277, 3.3628229 – right next to the car park of Bella Vista Tennis.

The path is easily recognisable thanks to the coloured stones marking it.

After a few relaxed minutes, the climb becomes steeper, making the trail a bit more adventurous.

In some spots, you'll also need to do a bit of climbing.

Keep going, the view at the end of the trail is well worth it!

Shortly before you reach the viewpoint, you'll come across a sign encounter. Otherwise, the hiking trail is unfortunately not signposted.

Cave, bunker & wild vegetation along the way

The local mountain has more to offer than just a view. Just below the summit lies a small cave in the rock – the turn-off to it is marked with a wooden post . It's not easy to find at first glance, but it's worth the short detour.

Around the mountain you'll also discover remains of old bunker complexes, which are linked to the Spanish Civil War (from 1936 onwards). Along the path grow typically Mediterranean plants such as strawberry trees, prickly pears and wild shrubs – beautiful to look at, but yet another reason to wear long trousers and sturdy footwear.

Conclusion

Once at the top, a magnificent view awaits you over part of Mallorca's east coast and the Mediterranean Sea.

One you're sure not to forget anytime soon!
